Instrumental rock piece originally written for an album of the same name with the song originally as an introduction and a reprise. After recording a version with vocals decided that the song sounded better without vocals

Story behind the song
The song was originally written from a poem that I wrote called "Electric Mickey Mouse Land" referring to the experience of going to a four year military college and the depersonalization that one goes through to become just a number. It was originally the main song for an album with the song at the beginning and a reprise at the end. I created a guitar solo to fill in between the two parts and decided the song was better as an instrumental. By the way, "Mickey Mouse" is slang for mind games.
Lyrics
ELECTRIC MICKEY MOUSE LAND(Please feel free to sing along) VERSE: EVERYTHING IS A CASTLE MICKEY MOUSE IN BLUE THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST THAT ANYONE'S BEEN THROUGH SHINING PRETTY METAL AND LEATHER, TOO MICKEY MOUSE SAYS THAT'S THE ONLY THING TO DO. EVERYONE HAS A NUMBER; EVERYONE HAS A NAME. BUT WHAT'S THE PURPOSE, WHEN THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME? CHORUS: COME TO ELECTRIC MICKEY MOUSE LAND WHERE INEFFICIENCY REIGNS SUPREME DOING SOMETHING USEFUL JUST A PSYCHEDELIC DREAM ELECTRIC MICKEY MOUSE LAND --REVISITED VERSE: EVERYTHING WAS A CASTLE MICKEY MOUSE WAS IN BLUE BUT ACCORDING TO SOURCES, HE IS THROUGH SHINING LEATHER AND PRETTY METAL, TOO IS SOMETHING WE NO LONGER DO. WE NO LONGER HAVE A NUMBER, BUT WE STILL HAVE A NAME WE DON'T WEAR UNIFORMS, WE DON'T LOOK THE SAME CHORUS: WE WENT TO ELECTRIC MICKEY MOUSE LAND WHERE INEFFICIENCY REIGNED SUPREME DOING SOMETHING USEFUL; JUST A PSYCHEDELIC DREAM

I'm with Seth on this one. The minor speaks louder than the smiley exterior. Dark Days of Youth. Things better forgotten. Don't look back. Subconscious resentment. i guess only you know the real meaning.

Unusually off beat, slightly but ironically? tongue in cheek. Have you heard of Bonzo Dog Band ? this is almost like them. I like it.

Am I hearing this differently to everyone else? I don't hear a happy upbeat tune here, I hear irony and sadness - a veneer of jollity masking a pointless and unpleasant experience at military school. If so this is very skillfully done. Dark Days of Youth indeed.

Had a good listen to this second time around, Mmmm think I have to agree with Steve there does seem to be a sadness coming thru in the tune.
