Okay, okay, so I'm just one guy. But in the studio, I'm an entire band. I play electric and 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and drums plus do all the vocals and write all the music. I'm self taught and don't read music except for maybe chord charts. Well maybe not entirely self taught-mom got me started since she was a guitarist/mandolinist herself. But she played by ear too so guess that's where I got it. Not that I didn't do my time in various bands. The last, Legacy, was a full time road band until 1983 when I finally got to a space in my life where I told myself there's got to be a better way than just playing covers for a living. And then I found digital recording. Way cool...........

Story behind the song
This little ditty was inspired by the map on the news on election night that depicted the red and blue states.

©2005 Words and Music by Mark Cullen Io Music Ltd. All Rights Reserved Everyday you can see them running But why are they running on? The rat race filled with empty stares just in a hurry to be gone. I wonder how many think they're living when they're living without thinking. They must think they're doing well Tell me how can they really tell? Now the future just seems to feel hopeless And my eyes they can't see the light All the working man's dreams just seem like so many schemes Cause divided we stand tonight. They turned out on a Tuesday Based their vote upon their fears Didn't take the time to think about the facts behind the smears They did their duty for democracy and headed on back home While those we hoped would care didn't seem to be anywhere Now the future just seems to be hopeless Close my eyes in this blinding light Are the words that they spoke all part of some cruel joke on the working man's dreams that night Now the future just seems to feel hopeless And my eyes they can't see the light All the working man's dreams just seem like so many schemes so divided we stand tonight.
