Okay, okay, so I'm just one guy. But in the studio, I'm an entire band. I play electric and 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and drums plus do all the vocals and write all the music. I'm self taught and don't read music except for maybe chord charts. Well maybe not entirely self taught-mom got me started since she was a guitarist/mandolinist herself. But she played by ear too so guess that's where I got it. Not that I didn't do my time in various bands. The last, Legacy, was a full time road band until 1983 when I finally got to a space in my life where I told myself there's got to be a better way than just playing covers for a living. And then I found digital recording. Way cool...........

Story behind the song
Written shortly after my oldest daughter Melissa (who wrote the lyrics and melody for "Starving For Affection")graduated from high school.
Lyrics
My little blue-eyed sleepy girl When you were napping here next to me I never thought about our days being numbered It felt like an eternity Now moments later You a young woman having your picture taken next to me And I'm thinking about all the time that's passed now that you're prepared to leave So many times You've made your Daddy proud Never following but born to lead So many ways you turn the lost into found You're learning what it means to be On your own You've learned that love's not a fairytale It's all about give and take And you know it's not a perfect life life We all live with our mistakes You've earned respect Not an easy thing Character isn't a single trait My little blue-eyed baby girl Your life now is yours to make So many times You've made your Daddy proud Never following but born to lead So many ways you turn the lost into found You're learning what it means to be On your own My little grownup blue-eyed girl Vivacious on the video tape Whenever you need me I'll be here But your life now is yours to shape Your life's your own On your own
