Okay, okay, so I'm just one guy. But in the studio, I'm an entire band. I play electric and 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and drums plus do all the vocals and write all the music. I'm self taught and don't read music except for maybe chord charts. Well maybe not entirely self taught-mom got me started since she was a guitarist/mandolinist herself. But she played by ear too so guess that's where I got it. Not that I didn't do my time in various bands. The last, Legacy, was a full time road band until 1983 when I finally got to a space in my life where I told myself there's got to be a better way than just playing covers for a living. And then I found digital recording. Way cool...........

Story behind the song
A song inspired by my daughter and her move to California where she found that you truly "can't always believe your eyes"
Lyrics
(You Can't Always) Believe Your Eyes ©2005 Mark Cullen Io Music Ltd. Naked sidewalks crumble slowly in the filth of this city Broken dreamers they lie in the streets Waste scattered by the winds The smell of desperation clings in the sweat of those despairing Vacant eyes hiding in shadows stare out from stale mannequins *Did you think the world would make you? To teach you strength it tries to break you The frail will all roll over in the easy bed of lies When can you believe that your luck will soon be better? Only when you discover that you can't always believe your eyes Frantic in your journey now that the tempo grows weaker Aching to be wandering with no worries that call Nothing worth having is free for the taking Having nothing worth taking is the freest of all * (Chorus) Steal from the time in this slow pantomime of your life Feeling The delicate pain cuts the cold healing rain like a knife Reeling Hold on tight * (Chorus)
